Governance

Clinical Governance is well recognised as the mechanism for safe guarding high standards of healthcare. Lessons learned in recent times from adverse events have highlighted the necessity to continuously strive to improve the quality of our services, create and maintain environments in which clinical excellence can thrive.

With the future registration of Occupational Therapists of Ireland this document is timely as it aims to provide a concise overview of Clinical Governance and guidance for the provision of Occupational Therapy with high standards of professional conduct, education, training and competence.
We anticipate that this document will be useful for therapists and in turn benefit service users as we endeavour to continuously improve occupational therapy services and ensure safe clinical practice.

Developed on behalf of the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland (AOTI) by the National Occupational Therapists Managers Advisory Group (NOTMAG) :  Aoife O’Gorman, Alison Enright, Alma Joyce, Anne Hughes Kazibwe, Theresa Peacock and Vivienne Hand.
