National HSCP Office Update: Online Support and Therapies Survey Report
Many thanks to those of you who took part in an Online Support and Therapies Survey in October 2020.
As part of a broad programme of work, the Health Service Executive’s (HSE) National Telehealth Steering Group is overseeing plans to increase capacity across the health sector in the area of online support and therapies. The Online Support and Therapy Working Group is working alongside two other groups which have been established to report on video enabled healthcare and remote monitoring solutions in healthcare. This will build on the work already underway in mental health and will extend to all care groups and hospital groups. A broad and inclusive approach is being adopted to facilitate increased access to:
- Information resources for the public
- Self-help tools and resources (such as mobile apps)
- Online person to person supports, e.g. online support groups for people with chronic health conditions
- Health services delivered / augmented through online or phone-based platforms.
A survey was designed by The Online Support and Therapy Working Group to get the views of health and social care professionals and other interested people to determine:
- Interest in, and willingness to use, online/digital resources in the delivery of healthcare
- Knowledge of existing resources in the broad area of online therapy.
