Abstract definition
An abstract is a brief summary of a research article, review or analysis of a particular subject or discipline and is used to help the
reader quickly ascertain the presenter’s purpose and/or the learning involved.

Call for abstracts
Participants are invited to submit abstracts that cover all relevant aspects of occupational therapy and in particular, abstracts that
examine evidence based therapy experiences and best practice through collaborative work across all-Ireland.

There are two streams for abstract submission for this conference
(1) Research abstract submission and
(2) Clinical abstract submission.

Any activity that has been conducted as a research study MUST be submitted as a research abstract in the interest of ethical
conduct of research and protection of service users.

Clinical abstracts must clearly demonstrate the background and need for the intervention, give clear details of how the intervention
was designed, implemented, and how the outcome was appraised or measured.

Submissions of abstracts within both streams are welcomed to cover the wide ranging areas of interest to occupational therapy
within a variety of practice areas.

There are four different types of presentation to choose from and you indicate your first and second preference for presentation
from:

 Paper (25 minutes presentation plus 5 minutes for discussion):  Paper sessions will include up to three accepted
papers on a similar topic lasting 90 minutes in total.

 Workshop (1hr 30mins): Workshops must have an interactive component involving the delegates.  Abstracts should
explain how this will be achieved.

 Poster: A traditional poster presentation on display for the duration of the conference

 Interactive Poster Discussion Presentation: A maximum of three posters will be presented in each poster discussion
session.  Presenters will have 3 minutes to present their poster followed by a period of facilitated discussion with a small
audience (up to 20 participants).  Posters will be grouped by topic. Presenters will also be given a traditional poster site to
display their poster for the duration of the conference.
