Masters (MSc) in Human Factors in Patient Safety

Surgical Affairs at RCSI are now recruiting for an innovative interprofessional Masters Programme, the Masters (MSc.) in Human Factors in Patient Safety. This programme provides instruction in the areas of error, risk and patient safety in a healthcare setting. It supports candidates who wish to become experts in delivering patient safety and quality improvement initiatives in acute hospitals.

Interprofessional Masters at RCSI

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) has been at the forefront of educating healthcare professionals since 1784 when it was founded as the national training and professional body for surgery. Now it is Ireland’s only focused health sciences institution, Ireland’s largest medical school and one of the leading health sciences institutions in the world. There are more than 23,000 healthcare professionals in 97 countries worldwide who have been educated or trained by RCSI and more than 4,000 candidates are enrolled on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the College annually. 

Surgical Affairs at RCSI are now recruiting for an innovative interprofessional Masters Programme, the Masters (MSc.) in Human Factors in Patient Safety.  This programme provides instruction in the areas of error, risk and patient safety in a healthcare setting. It supports candidates who wish to become experts in delivering patient safety and quality improvement initiatives in acute hospitals. 

The Masters is positioned at level 9 on the NFQ and accredited by the National University of Ireland and the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.  This MSc is an inter-professional programme as it has been developed to meet the needs of Surgeons, Anaesthetists, EM doctors, Acute Care Nurses, Nurse Educationalists and other health care professionals such as Nutritionists, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, Speech & Language Therapists etc.  Further information on this programme can be found on the website by clicking here
