Webinar Invitation: Launch of the new MHC guidance for staff providing mental health services to persons with intellectual disabilities

MHC are pleased to invite you to the launch of the Guidance for staff providing mental health services to persons with intellectual disabilities, recently developed by the Mental Health Commission (MHC).


The guidance has been informed by extensive engagement with people with lived experience, families, clinicians and other stakeholders. It aims to support high‑quality, rights‑based mental health care for people with an intellectual disability.

The launch will include an overview of the guidance, why it is needed, and how the MHC intends it to be used to support and improve outcomes for people who use services.


The MHC has a mandate to promote, encourage and foster the establishment and maintenance of high standards and good practice in the delivery of mental health services. This launch marks an important milestone for all those with an interest in providing mental health care to people with an intellectual disability. It is particularly relevant to staff working in mental health services, and may also be of interest to staff in disability services who support people with their mental health needs.


Please note that places are limited, so early registration is encouraged. If you are unable to attend, the presentation will be recorded and made available as a resource on the MHC website. Subtitles will be added to the recording to support people who are visually impaired or hard of hearing, and the recording will be compatible with screen readers.
