This course is supported by HSCP Office funding. Only staff in HSE funded roles (including S38/S39) are eligible to apply.
This course provides training in CIMT for clients with upper limb dysfunction following stroke or brain injury. It is suitable for any Occupational Therapist working in neurorehabilitation.
The course will be run online over two half-day sessions and includes:
- Theory
- Assessments
- Interventions
- Practical assignments.
Learning aims/outcomes:
- Understand CIMT principles and brain plasticity
- Identify suitable candidates for CIMT
- Learn and apply assessments (MAL, Wolf Motor Function Test, Flannel Test)
- Develop and implement shaping and task practice interventions
- Design home-based therapy plans

Facilitator:
The facilitator for this course is Phillip Fay, Occupational Therapist at Citherapy Australia. Phillip trained in CIMT at University of Alabama, USA (2009). He has over 30 years experience in neurorehabilitition, has delivered over 500 CIMT courses globally and is the founder of Citherapy clinics in Australia.
