The Sacred Heart Hospital in conjunction with the OT Dept Mayo University Hospital is delighted to be hosting the NDT/Bobath Certificate course in the Treatment of Adults with Hemiplegia. The first Certificate course to be held in the West of Ireland, this excellent fifteen-day course trains participants in evaluating and managing individuals with hemiplegia resulting from stroke or brain injury.

Course objectives:

Attendance on this course will offer participants the opportunity to:


  • Apply the principles of NDT to the management of adults with hemiplegia
  • Better assess and analyse normal and abnormal movement
  • Identify impairments interfering with function
  • Integrate the NDT approach with concepts of neuroplasticity, recovery of function and motor learning theory
  • Develop handling skills effective in facilitating normal function
  • The NDT Certificate course is now a 13 day course running Mon May 6th – Weds May 22nd (no Saturdays included)
  • As this course runs over 13 days in Wedding and First Holy Communion season individual applications will be considered if you require a day’s absence.
  • This is the first NDT Certificate course in Ireland to have an NDT OT instructor teaching on the course. (Katy Kerris OT will be teaching for 10 days of the course

Process for application:

The fee for this thirteen day course is €1700. This includes course reference materials and refreshments for the morning and afternoon breaks. Lunch is not included.

You can apply by completing the attached application form and enclosing a personal cheque for the full cost of €1700 as soon as possible. Cheques should be made payable to HSE. Although personal cheques are preferred alternative arrangements can be discussed to facilitate application

Although full payment is requested at time of application, no cheques will be lodged until all places have been confirmed in late March 2019. Only after notification of successful application will cheques then be lodged.
